There isn’t a Musica Orbium concert that takes place without an audience member telling us how moved and inspired they have been by the music they’ve heard.
We present two major headline concerts each season, featuring beautiful choral performances that draw from a wide-ranging, original and often rarely performed repertoire. It is through the generous support of our community that we are able to produce and offer these concerts at affordable prices, allowing our audiences to enjoy choral music that entertains, educates and enriches.
Musica Orbium is recognized for its contribution to the Montreal and Quebec choral music scene, and we also often feature works by Canadian composers or arrangers. The ensemble regularly hires professional local choristers, soloists and instrumentalists, as well as many up-and-coming young singers, many of whom have since gone on to promising careers thanks to the professional development opportunities afforded them by various ensembles such as ours.
Inevitably, some of our concerts, including J.S. Bach’s exquisite Mass in B Minor, which garnered the recognition of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 and this season's production of J.S. Bach’s inspirational St Matthew Passion, involve considerable expense.
Because we are a non-profit organization, we depend on both public and private sources for our support. There are a number of ways to support Musica Orbium. The first is, of course, to attend our concerts. If you would like to extend your appreciation in other tangible ways, we invite you to consider making a donation, placing an ad in our concert programs, or reserving the ensemble for a special event.
As well, until December 2017, under the Quebec government’s first cultural donation program and the Mécénat Placements Culture program of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications your donation gets multiplied by 17 times! To know more about this unparalleled opportunity, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our president, Louis Langelier, at 514 243-1303 or at email@example.com.
