Since its foundation in 1992, Musica Orbium has built a reputation among Montreal choristers (amateur and professional) and concert-goers as the choir that programs demanding, beautiful, but often lesser-known repertoire. Concert programmes are a reflection of the Board and Artistic Director Patrick Wedd’s eclectic musical tastes. What other ensemble would require its classical pianist to play both Brahms and Fats Waller, or its singers to perform a Renaissance madrigal and vocal jazz, all in the same concert? Few other choirs perform a single work written in three different tonalities performed simultaneously, with the choir encircling the audience. This is Ensemble Musica Orbium.
